Changing Lives

"A Big Smile" by Brad D'Amico (copyright 2005)

Detecting heart disease before birth can change lives.

Every year in the UK about 2,500 babies are affected by serious congenital heart disease and, for most of them, this is unexpected.

We are working locally and nationally to increase antenatal detection and diagnosis.

By improving the care of babies and their families before they are born, we hope that these babies will have a better start in life.

Heart Babies

Every pregnancy carries a small risk (about 1 in 145) that a baby will be born with heart disease and this increases slightly with family history, age and other factors.
